Case Studies: Essentials

Be it the perfection of hundreds of matching minute prongs, the proportionality examined down to the 1/10 of a millimeter or the flawless execution of a single stone setting, each of these commissioned pieces is an example of the age old adage “That there is more here than meets the eye”

Essential Two

Platinum Engagement Ring with 1.64cts. Diamond. $22,800

What makes this a Case Study:

  • This timeless engagement ring is one of the hardest pieces for a jeweler to make… and make well. There is no place for any imperfections to hide. The prongs must be perfect. The band must be perfect. The basket holding the diamond… must be perfect. Most rings like this you’ll find the prongs do not match, there is a slight tilt of the basket, the band has blemishes, in this example there are none.

  • To proportionally match the client's hand we had to thin the band by .2 millimeter, taper the band where it meets the basket holding the diamond and lower the diamond by 2 millimeter.
